About the company

Franmax provides franchise and support services for the companies of Maxima Grupė, a grocery retailer. At the time I worked there, the group operated in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Bulgaria, with more than 1,000 stores and more than 40,000 employees.

My role

Business Need Manager, Master Data area (from 2018-05)

A Business Need Manager (BNM) owns all development in their business area. I coordinated every initiative that touched SAP Master Data functionality or data, beginning with product master data. I detailed the business requirements and secured approval from the countries involved, usually the Baltic states and Bulgaria, then carried the approved requirements into development, prioritised the backlog and ran UAT once the build was finished.

AMM project (until 2019-10)

My main work at Franmax. I took on the strategic AMM (Accounting of Marketing Money) project in the commerce business area of Maxima Grupė while still a BNM, and it soon became my only assignment. The project covers supplier contributions to the promotions Maxima runs. As a retailer with significant market power, Maxima falls under the Lithuanian law on unfair practices of retailers, supervised by a state authority, so every contribution has to be agreed, documented and auditable.

I was solely responsible for eliciting, documenting, approving and managing the business requirements, and once they were in place I took part in system design and supported the development team. The first stage went live in 2019-10.

Product Owner, EDI and GPAIS (2019-10 - 2020-01)

Product Owner for EDI with suppliers. The three-document GS1 process (order, despatch advice, invoice) was fully in operation by then, while the extension to a fourth message, the receiving advice, was at the feasibility stage. I owned the product roadmap, the backlog and sprint planning.

Product Owner for compliance with GPAIS, the Lithuanian state system for product, packaging and waste accounting, where Maxima must declare everything it places on the market and all the waste it generates. My part was the mapping of the company’s master and transaction data onto the GPAIS data model across all three areas.
